Circle of Grace Report 2010
January - 11 members of our circle (and 4 non-members) volunteered with Family Promise, a ministry
to help homeless families. There were 6 overnighters, 6 who provided evening meals and 4 who provided breakfast/lunch
food. It was an expecially eye-opening encounter as there was a blizzard that weekend and we had to spend much more
time in the Faith Assembly Church fellowship hall than had been planned. We also finished up our bood "Still Waters"
by Jane Rubietta.
February - Met to begin our Lenten study, "Pathway to Purpose for Women:
Connecting Your to-do List, Your Passions, and God's Purposes for Your Life" by Katie Brazelton. Nine women
mad the commitment to meet weekly to discuss this book during Lent.
March - Continued our Lenten
study and met with members of Family Promise volunteer team from Faith Assembly Church to discuss things we might like to
change for our next hosting session. We also stuffed 120 Easter eggs for the children's egg hunt.
April
- Once again, 11 members of our circle (and 4 non-members) volunteered with Family Promise, the homeless family ministry.
There were 6 overnighters, 6 who provided meals and 4 who provided breakfast/lunch food. We also provided support
in the Day Center where the families stay during the day and provided Easter baskets on Sunday morning to the three children
in the program. We finished up our Lenten study and met to choose our next book.
May - Our
third encounter as a support church to Family Promise was much less stressful; I'm unsure whether that was due to circumstances,
our comfort level, or both. this time 10 members of our circle (and 2 non-members) volunteered with Family Promise,
the homeless family ministry. There were 6 overnighters, 6 who provided evening meals and 2 who provided breakfast/lunch
food. We also provided support in the Day Center where the families stay during the day. At the end of the month,
seven of us met to discuss the book "A Gentle Thunder: Hearing God through the Storm" by Max Lucado.
